The Astros were only narrowly defeated as they faced off against the Vienna Robots.
One year to the day after their debut in the league (which also took place against TU), the Astros competed on their home turf and played considerably stronger than last year.
A Frenzied Start and Rapid Comeback
Despite the TU Robots taking the initial lead, the JKU Astros stayed composed and refused to back down. A touchdown by Nils Kühn quickly tied the game. During the second quarter, Jan Paffenholz's strong pick sparked some cheers for the defense. Despite their best efforts, the Astros went into half-time with a score of 7:14.
The Crowd Goes Wild in the Third Quarter
Back from half-time, the Astros continued their offense and Jakob Reichart kicked the third quarter off with an explosive 43-yard run! Defense also stood firm and the TU was forced into a field goal. The Astros went into the final quarter with a narrow 14:17 lead.
A Nail-Biting Final Quarter
The final quarter began well for the JKU as Moritz Kastner scored another touchdown, giving the JKU the lead for the first time in the game! However, in a gripping finale, the TU Robots also scored a touchdown, narrowly winning the game 24:21.
Although the JKU Astros lost the game, their performance was very impressive, demonstrating that in just one year, they have become true contenders in the league. The enthusiasm and fighting spirit on the field inspire high hopes for the rest of the season!
