Charges laid in Yorkton assault investigation

In the early morning hours of September 5th, 2024, Yorkton RCMP were called to a business located on the 100th block of Broadway Street in Yorkton to a report of a male being assaulted.

Members responded and located an adult male with serious injuries. He was transported to hospital for treatment.

Continued investigation by Yorkton RCMP, along with Yorkton Municipal General Investigation Section, has resulted in charges laid against four individuals - two male youth and two adult males.

The two youth cannot be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They were arrested Friday September 13, 2024 and remain in custody. They are charged with:

  • 1 count, robbery with a weapon, section 344 of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, aggravated assault, section 268(2) of the Criminal Code
  • one youth was further charged with Disguise with Intent, section 351(2) of the Criminal Code

30-year-old Michael Weber and 20-year-old Derrick Brass, both from the Kamsack area, are charged with:

  • 1 count, robbery with a weapon, section 344 of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, aggravated assault, section 268(2) of the Criminal Code

Weber was arrested on September 5, 2024 and appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on September 6th, 2024 and was remanded in custody. He will appear again on September 23rd, 2024.

Derrick Brass has not yet been located and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Derrick is described as being 5'5" tall, 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is known to frequent the Kamsack area. If you see Derrick, do not approach him and contact police immediately. There is a photograph attached.
