Hurricane season is nearly here, and Pinellas County Emergency Management and Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue will host a free Hurricane Preparedness Day expo on Saturday, June 1, to provide residents with information and resources to keep their families safe this hurricane season.
The family-friendly event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tarpon Springs Public Safety Facility, 444 S. Huey Ave., Tarpon Springs. Residents will have an opportunity to learn from experts about how to prepare themselves, their families and their properties for hurricane season.
Event highlights will include:
"Weather experts are predicting an especially active hurricane season this year," said Pinellas County Emergency Management Director Cathie Perkins. "Now's the time to make sure you're prepared. This event will be a fun way to learn how to protect yourself and your family and to pick up resources to help you make a plan for hurricane season."
Pinellas County individuals and business owners can learn more about preparing for hurricane season at disaster.pinellas.gov. Residents can also save money on hurricane kit supplies during the 2024 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, which runs June 1 through June 14.
