Mayor Mclean Announces 2025 NIP Investments

August 16, 2024

Mayor Lauren McLean announced the recipients of the City of Boise's 2025 Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) this week at a gathering in Phillipi park. Part of the City's Energize Our Neighborhoods initiative, the program funds improvements in neighborhoods across the city that enrich the lives of residents, enhance the identity of our neighborhoods and encourage a strong sense of community.

In response to the recent increase in crashes between cars and bikes or pedestrians, the city requested proposals focused on bike-ped safety. In all, 8 projects were approved in 7 unique neighborhoods in Boise. All of the projects were requested by the city's registered neighborhood associations.

"Boise's neighborhoods are truly the connective tissue of our city. They instill a sense of place and belonging and contribute to the creation of a safe and welcoming community," said Mayor McLean. "I am proud of the commitment our neighbors make every year to one another and to our city. Investments like these improve the quality of each neighborhood and result in meaningful improvements for our residents."

Eight projects were selected for a total of $364,504. The types of projects funded include a bicycle fix-it-station and corrals in the Hillcrest neighborhood, signage that recognizes the unique character of our neighborhoods, and amenities that will increase safety and connectivity in the City of Boise.

This year's investments include:

Barber Valley, Bus Stop Enhancements

Highlands, Neighborhood Signs

Hillcrest, Bike Corrals + Repair Stations

Hillcrest, Neighborhood Signs

Northwest, Walking Path at Shadow Hills Elementary

Warm Springs Mesa, Neighborhood Signs

West Bench, Neighborhood Analysis

Winstead Park, Open Streets Event
