CBSM AT THE JOINT ECB AND EBA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: ADDRESSING SUPERVISORY CHALLENGES THROUGH ENHANCED COOPERATION
On 3 and 4 September, a joint conference of the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Banking Authority (EBA) was held at the ECB premises in Frankfurt. The conference topic was "Addressing supervisory challenges through enhanced cooperation"(*).
The joint conference, which brought together over 150 representatives from European institutions, supervisory authorities from EU member states and other countries, aimed to "explore the multiple dimensions of supervisory cooperation and the current challenges for which this is needed across borders and sectors".
Over the two days, panels of speakers took turns in the different conference sessions, which also provided special room for the exchange of opinions and experiences among representatives of the various supervisory authorities. The discussions also included the positions of the authorities in attendance-primarily the ECB and EBA, but also ESMA and EIOPA, the remaining European Supervisory Authorities-on the most significant current issues.
A delegation from CBSM, consisting of the Managing Director and the Head of International Relations, participated in the conference to gain deeper insights into the latest developments in the European supervisory framework. The conference also served as an opportunity for CBSM to strengthen ties with European institutions and supervisory authorities, in line with the Central Bank's ongoing efforts to enhance international relations and in anticipation of the potential integration of San Marino's financial system into the European framework, following the signing of the association agreement between San Marino and the European Union.
