Streets Update: Stop Sign Changes – Indianola High School Building Improvements

As the 2024-25 school year approaches, and to address the overall safety concerns and traffic flow as building construction is underway for the improvements being made at Indianola High School, new stop signs and pavement markings will impact three street intersections starting Thursday, August 22. These changes are part of the site plan that was approved by the Indianola City Council.

The intersections include:

  • South 9th Street & East 1st Avenue Intersection: Transitioning from a two-way stop control to all-way stop control.
  • North 9th Street & East Salem Avenue Intersection: Transitioning from a two-way stop control to all-way stop control.
  • North 9th Street & East Ashland Avenue Intersection: Transitioning from an all-way stop control to a two-way stop control on the east-west direction.

Please continue to adhere to all traffic signs and instructions, and please be cautious and courteous for the safety of fellow road users. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work diligently and efficiently together through these next steps.
