Alert Palmdale App Keeps Residents Informed During Emergencies

Residents are Encouraged to Sign Up for Notifications to be Better Prepared for an Emergency

The City of Palmdale is urging all residents to register for Alert Palmdale, a new web-based emergency notification system for the region. Alert Palmdale is a free service that allows authorized City officials to quickly distribute public safety information to residents using "reverse 911" technology and contact details submitted through the Citizen Opt-In portal. This service will provide residents with real-time information to stay safe or take precautions during hazardous or emergency situations.

Residents can sign up online at www.Smart911.com or via the Smart911 mobile app, available in the App Store and on Google Play, to provide their contact information.

"Ensuring our residents receive timely alerts and safety information is crucial during emergencies," said Mayor Austin Bishop. "By registering for Alert Palmdale, you'll ensure your family is notified about severe weather, wildfires, earthquakes, evacuation orders and other disaster events."

Residents who opt-in will receive timely and actionable emergency alerts via email, text or voice message in the event of an emergency. They can also specify when and how they are alerted and communicated with before, during, and after emergencies.

"Alert Palmdale represents a significant advancement in how we communicate with our community during critical times," said Mayor Pro Tem Richard J. Loa. "We strongly encourage everyone to take a few minutes to sign up and stay informed. Again, please sign up with Alert Palmdale."

All contact information provided will be kept strictly confidential. Residents will only receive critical and time-sensitive notifications for their geographic area.
