Throughout the entire month of July, Florida residents and visitors can enjoy a wide range of recreation and cultural activities without the added cost of sales tax, thanks to the Freedom Month Sales Tax Holiday.
Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed this initiative into the budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25, aiming to provide financial relief and encourage families to explore the diverse offerings of our state. From fishing gear to camping supplies, and even admissions to entertainment and cultural events, a variety of items are included in this tax-free extravaganza.
"Florida is stepping up to make summer more affordable for families," said Governor DeSantis. "While the federal government is causing high inflation and skyrocketing costs for families, Florida's smart fiscal policies allow us to reduce taxes and help reduce the burden on Floridians."
Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Shawn Hamilton echoed the governor's enthusiasm, highlighting the unique experiences available in Florida's state parks. "Florida's 175 award-winning state parks are second to none," Hamilton said. "I encourage all of Florida's residents and visitors to take advantage of these extra savings and discover the unique experiences the real Florida has to offer."
