Weekly Wrap Friday, Aug. 16, 2024

The Santa Fe Arts Commission is pleased to announce the "Art is the Solution" grant program for 2024-25 application window opened Aug. 15 and applications are due no later than 11:59 pm Oct. 15.

Five (5) grants will be awarded in the amount of $10,000 each to support artists' projects with a public engagement outcome that will enrich the experience and understanding of our City for residents and visitors.

This year, the program encourages artists to creatively respond to the theme "Art is the Solution," with no specific focus area beyond this broad assertion. This open theme invites artists to explore and express how art can be a solution to various challenges or questions, be they personal, societal, environmental, or otherwise.

There will be a public information session on Zoom on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5:30 pm, to answer questions and offer tips for crafting a strong application. RSVP to [email protected] for the link.

Applications from arts practitioners of all backgrounds and disciplines, including visual art, film/video, literature, architecture, music composition, performing arts, culinary arts, design, new media, and interdisciplinary arts are encouraged. 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Santa Fe's designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art, and artists working and innovating in these traditions are warmly encouraged to apply.

Project examples might include artworks, public art installations, community workshops, performances, exhibits, publication projects such as zines, books, or anthologies, multimedia work, collaborative/interdisciplinary partnerships, and many other possible forms.

Potential applicants should carefully read the requirements to ensure they are able to meet them, if funded. Questions about project options and eligibility? Contact [email protected].
