Good afternoon. Let me start today's briefing.

The Korean government is deeply saddened by the fire accident in Hwaseong yesterday that has resulted in many foreign victims.

The government expresses deep condolences to those who lost their lives in this accident and extends heartfelt sympathy to their bereaved families.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting on the accident chaired by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Insun yesterday evening to discuss ways to support the foreign victims. In addition, the Foreign Ministry promptly communicated with the embassies in Korea of the countries from which the foreign victims came, and explained that the Ministry will do its best to support the victims and their bereaved families.

Vice Minister Kang visited the accident site in person early this morning to check the damage, and thoroughly reviewed the measures needed to support the foreign victims. The Foreign Ministry is planning to hold the second meeting on the accident chaired by Vice Minister Kang this afternoon at 5 p.m.

The Ministry will continue to communicate closely with relevant government agencies and diplomatic missions in Korea and provide necessary support to the foreign victims and their bereaved families.
