Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation Receives $350,000 Donation from Daughters of the American Revolution

Daughters of the American Revolution President General Named as Ambassador of the Women's Suffrage National Monument Foundation

WASHINGTON (August 26, 2024) - In celebration of Women's Equality Day, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a founding National Partner(link is external)of the Women's Suffrage National Monument Foundation, announced a $350,000 gift to the Women's Suffrage National Monument Foundation(link is external).

"Since 1890, the Daughters of the American Revolution have been leaders in preserving America's history and sharing America's stories. DAR's generous gift in support of establishing a permanent memorial in Washington, D.C to the great women of American history is the continuation of an unmatched, century-long commitment to historic preservation," said Anna Laymon, President and CEO of the Women's Suffrage National Monument Foundation. "It is therefore our honor to collaborate with the Daughters of the American Revolution to ensure that the commemorative landscape in our Nation's Capital uplifts women's contributions to American democracy and in doing so, shares a more complete American story."

In addition, the Women's Suffrage National Monument Foundation named DAR President General Pamela Wright asa Foundation Ambassador(link is external).

The Daughters of the American Revolution's donation is an important step towards the Foundation's $75 million fundraising goal. Laymon added, "President General Wright understands that this country was built on the promise of equality for all, and that together, our two organizations share a duty to fulfill that founding promise. We are thrilled to welcome President General Wright as a Foundation Ambassador and celebrate her leadership."
