Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee & Senate Judiciary Committee to Convene Hearing Examining the Assassination Attempt on Former President Donald Trump ➞

Hearing Will Include Testimony from FBI and USSS, Will Be Livestreamed Here and Here

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Gary Peters (D-MI) and Rand Paul (R-KY), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Chair and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, announced a joint oversight hearing scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM to examine the security failures that led to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The committees will hear testimony from U.S. Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13th. The following witnesses are confirmed:

  • Ronald L. Rowe, Jr, Acting Director of the U.S. Secret Service;
  • Paul Abbate, Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The hearing is part of a bipartisan Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs investigation led by Peters and Paul, and will follow a joint briefing for the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee with U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
