Quiet Zone Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, August 16, 2024

Where: 66th St Cul-de-sac. The ceremony will take place in the area highlighted on the aerial to the right on the east side of the tracks. Access to the ceremony is off of Hollis Street since the crossing is now closed from Shellmound Street.

Parking is limited in the area, please allow time for parking or use another mode of transportation to attend. AC Transit Bus Routes 7, 29, and 26 run nearby.

Project Scope: The project installed several robust railroad crossing safety improvements at 65th and 67th Streets, as well as a full closure at 66th St, that will allow trains to refrain from using their horns when traveling through the area thereby creating a "Quiet Zone". The project also includes improvements on Shellmound between 65th and 67th Streets.

Establishment of the "Quiet Zone": August 5, 2024

Thank you! to Emeryville residents and businesses that wrote letters of support for the project, as well as our funders and partners,
