Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia visit to Thailand-Malaysia rail, land and sea checkpoints in Perlis and Penang (1)

On 8-9 September 2024, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, accompanied by Mr. Raschada Jiwalai, Thai Consul General in Penang and officials from the Embassy and the Consulate General of Thailand in Penang, visited Perlis and Penang to explore Thailand-Malaysia rail, land and sea checkpoints, including Padang Besar Railway Station, ICQS Padang Besar, CIQ Wang Kelian-CIQ Wang Prachan and Kuala Perlis Jetty.

During the visit, the Ambassador and the delegation received a warm welcome from KTMB, Thai and Malaysian officials from the immigration department and the customs department. They exchanged useful information and were briefed on the development of the areas, customs and immigration procedures as well as the close cooperation between both sides' relevant agencies in facilitating smooth transport of goods and movement of passengers across the border.

The Ambassador thanked the Malaysian immigration department and the Royal Malaysian Customs department and other relevant agencies for the good and continued cooperation with their Thai counterparts, and for taking care of Thai nationals residing in and traveling to Malaysia. She also reiterated the Embassy and the Thai Consulate General in Penang's readiness to continue working closely with relevant agencies from both sides to further enhance seamless cross border connectivity for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples.
