On Friday, December 13, at 9:03 p.m., The Fargo Fire Department was dispatched to 737 2nd St. N. for a report of a structure fire. The caller reported a fire on the second floor of the home.
Upon arrival, the first fire crew observed flames coming out from a window on the second floor and observed the homeowners trying to extinguish the fire. Fire crews acted quickly and extinguished the fire within approximately 15 minutes of arriving on scene. All occupants were evacuated safely, including pets; and no injuries were reported.
The fire was confined to the second floor of the house but caused heavy damage and smoke damage throughout the house. The residents of the house were displaced and have been assisted by family.
A damage estimate is not yet available, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Fargo Fire Department responded with four fire engines, a truck company and two command vehicles. Fire crews were assisted on scene by The Fargo Police Department and Sanford Ambulance.
The Fargo Fire Department urges everyone to take a moment to check their smoke detectors and ensure they are in working condition.
