Argall, Twardzik Announce Funding to Increase High-Speed Internet Access in Pottsville

HARRISBURG - The Pottsville Free Public Library will receive 30 laptops through the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP), according to Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123). This initiative, spearheaded by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority, is designed to provide devices to communities where affordability has been identified as a barrier to the use of high-speed internet.

"High-speed internet is an absolute necessity in today's world," said Argall. "I'm grateful that these devices will support the mission of the Pottsville Free Public Library to make knowledge accessible to everyone."

"The Pottsville Free Public Library plays a vital role in connecting our community to valuable resources, and this program is another step in making technology accessible to all," said Twardzik. "These laptops will help expand educational and professional opportunities, ensuring that residents can stay connected in an increasingly digital world."

The DCTP program, backed by $20 million in federal funding, supports community institutions, including libraries, schools, municipalities, workforce training organizations, and other non-profits. Eligible projects focus on providing devices that increase broadband internet access while advancing digital literacy and skills training.

This latest round of awards is part of Pennsylvania's broader effort to ensure greater digital access across the Commonwealth, building stronger, connected communities for Pennsylvanians.
