City Recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month

Mayor Knox White celebrated the city's rich cultural heritage by proclaiming September 15 to October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Greenville.

The mayor joined City Councilor Russell Stall and Hispanic Alliance executive director Adela Mendoza for a proclamation reading outside of City Hall. The event included the donation of a portait of Mayor White created by artist Jorge Rojas.

"The Hispanic Alliance is all about complementing our community and injecting with the beauty of the Hispanic community here," Mayor White said.

"Greenville truly has led the way in designing a landscape of inclusion that has attracted people and industry from all over the world," Mendoza added. "Our job together is to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between the Hispanic population and the community at large."

The public is invited to honor the growing influence of our Hispanic and Latino communities on the social, cultural and economic fabric of the city, by participating in one of the many events being held over the month.
