Brown Votes to Cut Taxes for Ohio Families, Ohio Manufacturers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released the below statement on the bipartisan tax cut bill, which failed to advance in the Senate, despite receiving 48 votes from members of both parties. The House passed the bill earlier this year with overwhelming bipartisan support. The deal would have cut taxes for many Ohio families by expanding the Child Tax Credit, and supported Ohio manufacturers by incentivizing domestic investment in research and development.

"Ohio families and Ohio manufacturers have been clear they need these tax cuts: parents need an expanded Child Tax Credit to help them keep up with the rising cost of living, and American businesses need support investing in manufacturing innovation to keep up with our competitors. This bipartisan tax cut deal was good for families and good for businesses, and should have been an opportunity to come together and deliver for the people we serve. I will not stop fighting to cut taxes for Ohioans."
