Andrey Yatskin Appointed as Coordinator of IPA CIS on Parliamentary Elections in Azerbaijan

By the order of Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, the First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin was appointed as the coordinator of the IPA CIS international observer group on the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

The group of observers is being formed, including representatives of parliaments of the IPA CIS countries, the IPA CIS officials and experts of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).

The IPA CIS International Observes will participate in monitoring of elections by the invitation of the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova. The Speaker highlighted the extensive experience of Assembly representatives in monitoring elections and referendums.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree about dissolution of the VI convocation of the Milli Majlis and called snap parliamentary elections in the country for 1 September 2024.
