CHICAGO, November 4, 2024 - S&C Electric Company, a leading innovator of resilient grid technology, was honored for its ongoing efforts to decarbonize its manufacturing operations by the Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (SSCA). The Leading Practices in Supply Chain Sustainability Case Study Award was presented to S&C at the September 2024 SSCA Sustainable Sourcing Conference.
SSCA, an organization of utilities and suppliers working together to advance sustainability best practices in utility supply-chain activities and supplier networks, recognized S&C for its progress toward achieving its global decarbonization targets. This is the second year SSCA has highlighted S&C for its sustainability efforts. In 2023, S&C was honored for its Landfill-Free Initiative.
S&C's environmental sustainability strategy includes its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and decarbonizing its global manufacturing processes by 2050, with ambitious interim reduction targets set for 2030. At its manufacturing sites, S&C's sustainability strategy includes improving energy efficiency, reducing the use of natural gas, and investing in renewable energy generation.
The company's manufacturing processes have been 100% powered by renewable sources globally since 2020, well ahead of its 2030 goal. S&C has also achieved an 81% reduction in GHG-emission intensity across its global operations since the baseline year set in 2014.
