Fort Collins Police Detectives have since made two arrests in the case where a woman was shot while interrupting the suspects trespassing in her vehicle. Since October 21, 2024, Fort Collins Police Criminal Impact Unit Detectives have been working this case and following all possible leads.
Through the detective's investigation, they identified and arrested two juvenile male suspects. Due to statutory protections, their identities cannot be released. The first suspect was arrested on the following charges:
18-3-102(1)(A) - Attempted Murder in the 1st Degree, a Class 2 Felony
18-3-202(1)(A) - 1st Degree Assault, a Class 3 Felony
18-4-502 - 1st Degree Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle, a Class 5 Felony
18-8-610 - Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Felony Case, a Class 6 Felony
The second suspect was arrested on the following charges:
18-8-105(1)(3) - Accessory to a Crime - Committed Class 1 or 2 Felony, a Class 4 Felony
18-4-302(1)(A) - Aggravated Robbery with a Gun, a Class 3
18-2-101(4) - Criminal Attempt to Commit a Class 3 Felony, a Class 4 Felony
18-12-108.5(1) - Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile (2nd Offense), a Class 5 Felony
18-4-502 - 1st Degree Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle, a Class 1 Misdemeanor
"It is certainly troubling to see youth involved in these types of crimes, but I'm grateful for the dedicated work of the Criminal Impact Unit to conduct this investigation and identify these suspects. Working to apprehend armed suspects is one of the top priorities of the Criminal Impact Unit, and their work makes our community safer," said Assistant Chief Kristy Volesky who oversees the Fort Collins Police Criminal Investigations Division.

Due to statutory protections, no additional information will be released. Charges are merely an accusation by law enforcement and the suspects must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

On October 21, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Crown Ridge Ln. The victim had been awoken by a family member who had observed two unidentified males breaking into her vehicle, which was parked in front of her residence. The victim ran outside to confront the suspects, at which point one of the males fired multiple shots, striking the victim in the leg.
The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived. Officers on scene provided immediate medical assistance to the victim until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and has since been released.
The suspects were described as two males, wearing dark-colored clothing, hoodies, and backpacks. The suspects are outstanding and considered armed and dangerous.
We are asking the community to check any home security cameras, doorbell cameras, or business surveillance footage for any suspicious activity, especially any individuals matching the suspects' description, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. from Sunday night into Monday morning.
Additionally, if you experienced a vehicle trespass in the area since August 1, 2024, and have not yet reported it to police, we encourage you to do so. This information may be vital to our ongoing investigation.
