Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, December 12, 2024 - Federal Express Corporation, one of the world's largest express transportation companies, announced its achievement of the prestigious 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Award from the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Vietnam. This marks the sixth year that FedEx has received this esteemed recognition, highlighting the company's unwavering commitment to supporting and reinforcing communities across the country.
The AmCham CSR Award celebrates organizations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to social responsibility initiatives that positively impact local communities and contribute to sustainable development. FedEx Vietnam's comprehensive approach to CSR includes initiatives in education and supporting under-privileged communities, making a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
"We are incredibly honoured to be recognized for our efforts in supporting under-served communities and contributing to the development of our future business leaders," said Ee-Hui Tan, Managing Director of FedEx Vietnam and Cambodia. "This award reflects our ongoing commitment to bringing positive change to local communities. We believe that responsible business practices are essential to our success and the well-being of the people and environment in Vietnam."
Through the global FedEx Cares initiative, FedEx strives to make the world a better place by providing in-kind shipping, advocating employee volunteerism, and contributing to sustainable causes; from organizing clean-up activities to mentoring Vietnamese youth and providing free medical care to children, FedEx team members actively work to strengthen communities and promote a sustainable future for the world we live in.
Delivering healthcare programs to disadvantaged communities
For the thirteenth year, FedEx and local non-profit (NGO) VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) have been collaborating on the 'FedEx Delivers Heartbeats' program to offer free specialty healthcare and medical treatment to children with congenital heart defects (CHDs) in rural Vietnam. Since 2011, the program has screened over 333,000 children and identified nearly 7,700 previously undiagnosed cases of CHDs.
In 2024, FedEx announced a new collaboration with another local NGO, Vietnam Volunteer Center (VVC), on the "Computer Labs for Children" program. It will establish eight computer labs for more than 3,000 students in remote areas across the country. With this support, FedEx reinforces its commitment to community engagement by empowering students with essential technology. It will enable their future success and contribute to the country's long-term economic development.
Empowering youth
FedEx is actively empowering Vietnamese youth. Its collaboration with Junior Achievement (JA) Vietnam is aimed at fostering the growth and development of the next generation of leaders through the FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC). Since its inception in 2012 in Vietnam, FedEx/JA ITC continues to strengthen its commitment to help students better understand the nuances of international trade. To date, the program has attracted over 3,500 students with 72 students representing Vietnam at the regional finals.
