Families and neighbors of Potomac Gardens celebrated their community at the latest Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party, hosted by DC Housing Authority on Oct. 19.
Kids had a chance to get their face painted, play board and retro arcade games, and meet Minnie Mouse. They also had opportunities to hop on moon bounces and get treats from a variety of food vendors.
DCHA also hosted giveaways that included youth sneakers, winter coats, and toys, and free haircuts were available.
Executive Director Keith Pettigrew attended and spent time listening to residents and enjoying the festivities.
The Oct. 19 event is the latest Block Party in our Rebuilding Our Communities event series. The ongoing programming includes property-specific cookouts and other festivities.
The Rebuilding Our Communities event series is integral to foster community among DCHA residents, build connections among residents and staff, and facilitate connections to local service providers offering education, workforce development, and other opportunities.
Nearly 50 service providers participated in the Block Party, offering resources and sharing information on education and workforce development programs, job opportunities, and other services available for youth, seniors, and families in the District. The service providers are made up of nonprofits, academic institutions, private employers, and DC government agencies.
DCHA is grateful for the service providers who helped make this event possible:
