WASHINGTON - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced a $2,419,870 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to the MidSouth Development District. The SS4A program, established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) that Congressman Cohen alone among current members of the Tennessee Congressional District voted for, will support a comprehensive safety action plan to reduce traffic injuries and address identified safety needs.
The same SS4A program is underwriting the $13.1 million redesign of the dangerous Lamar-Kimball intersection that Congressman Cohen announced in September.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"I was pleased to vote for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that has directed so much needed infrastructure improvement funding to the 9th Congressional District. As a dedicated advocate of the 'Complete Streets' concept, I am sure that having this new investment in comprehensive safety planning will help save lives."
