Erie County Sheriff's Office Selects Trinity Services Group to Manage Food Service Operations for Jail Management Division

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia announces Trinity Services Group will take over management of food service operations at the Erie County Holding Center and Erie County Correctional Facility, effective today. Previously, the Erie County Sheriff's Office handled all food services, including procurement of food. Trinity will now assume responsibility for procurement and management of food service operations.

Trinity Services Group serves food to more than 190,000 Incarcerated Individuals in 42 states. This includes Incarcerated Individuals at 18 county jails and three juvenile detention centers in New York State. The new menu at the Erie County Holding Center and Erie County Correctional Facility includes two hot meals per day and exceeds the daily nutritional requirement. It also complies with American Correctional Association standards. Additionally, Trinity will offer a food services training program for Incarcerated Individuals.

An RFP process was conducted earlier this year. The Erie County Legislature approved the awarding of the RFP to Trinity in July. The Erie County Sheriff's Office estimates this will save hundreds of thousands of dollars in food service costs for taxpayers each year.

"As part of our commitment to modernize the Erie County Sheriff's Office, my administration is always looking for ways to provide more efficient services," said Sheriff Garcia. "We quickly identified food services at the Erie County Holding Center and Erie County Correctional Facility as something that could be improved at a lower cost to taxpayers. I'd like to thank our partners in the Erie County Legislature for working with us to make this change."
