GVRA and Atlanta Braves Host Career Exploration Day for Over 1,300 Students with Disabilities

Atlanta, Ga. -- GVRA staff "hit it out of the park" last Sunday, as more than 1,300 students with disabilities from all over Georgia participated in a day of career exploration and networking with the Atlanta Braves staff. Students also had the opportunity to attend the Braves vs. Pittsburgh game.

"We are excited about the opportunity for students with disabilities from every corner of our state to learn about career options with the Atlanta Braves and other potential employers," says Executive Director Chris Wells. "In addition to career exploration for our students, employers also will learn more about the benefits of hiring students with disabilities and the skills and talent they bring to the workforce."

GVRA teamed with the Atlanta Braves staff to help identify students' career interests. The Atlanta Braves staff shared information with students about their jobs or careers, discussed the paths to achieve career goals, and encouraged students to explore further areas of interest once they left the park.

At the event, GVRA staff did an excellent job providing outreach to ensure that students and families were aware of the services offered by GVRA, including funding for post-secondary opportunities.
