After Supreme Court Decision Gives President Absolute Immunity, Rosen Helps Introduce Constitutional Amendment to Clarify No One Is Above the Law

This Amendment Introduction Follows the Supreme Court Decision to Grant the President Immunity From Criminal Prosecution for Official Acts

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined her colleagues in introducing a constitutional amendment to make it clear that no one, including the President, is above the law in the United States. The introduction of this amendment follows the U.S. Supreme Court decision that Presidents are immune from prosecution for "official" actions.

"In the United States, no one - not even the President - is above the law," said Senator Rosen. "The Supreme Court's shameful decision to give Presidents absolute immunity was misguided, which is why I helped introduce a constitutional amendment to make it absolutely clear that the rule of law applies to every American."

Senator Rosen has been leading the fight to clean up Washington. She has cosponsored legislation to increase ethics and transparency for Supreme Court justices and their staff. Last month, Senator Rosen helped pass a bipartisan bill out of committee to ban members of Congress from owning individual stocks. She also recently renewed her call for the House of Representatives to pass her bipartisan No CORRUPTION Act, which passed the Senate last year and would bar members of Congress from collecting taxpayer-funded pensions if they are convicted of felonies related to their official duties.
