As part of the Office of Information Technology's (OIT) ongoing commitment to strengthen Georgia Tech's defenses against cyber threats, we implemented the two-factor authentication (2FA) method Verified Duo Push this past June, significantly improving the integrity of the Institute's systems. Through campus survey and research, OIT has made the decision to no longer offer the Duo phone call 2FA method for login to Georgia Tech systems, beginning this fall.

Beginning Nov. 1, the Duo phone call method will no longer be offered as a two-factor authentication option for Georgia Tech users when logging in to OneUSG Connect. Beginning Dec. 1, the Duo phone call method will no longer be offered as a two-factor authentication option on all other Georgia Tech login systems. The phone call authentication method will remain a recovery mechanism for logging into Passport, but it will not be available for daily login use. OIT understands that some may have constraints and require the continued use of the Duo phone call method and will work with those users on a case-by-case basis.

OIT encourages the use of authentication methods such as Verified Duo Push, Duo Passcode, passkeys and YubiKeys. Our support teams will be available for one-on-one assistance through virtual sessions and help desks to assist Georgia Tech users with these methods, including updated resources and video tutorials for setting up Duo Mobile at oit.gatech.edu/two-factor-authentication.

Campus members can also review the following 2FA knowledge articles (or search for their respective titles or article numbers at services.gatech.edu):

Campus users can also contact their unit computer support representative, or the Administrative Services Center at 404.385.1111 or [email protected], if they need assistance with setting up any 2FA method.
