City of Verona Recognizes Week Without Driving, Sept 30 - Oct 6

City of Verona passes resolution to participate in Week Without Driving, a national challenge running September 30 through October 6. The community is encouraged to join by utilizing non-driving options to experience the everyday realities of those who, by circumstance or choice, do not drive. When you drive, take the time to consider barriers and challenges for those who do not drive, and reflect on the experience. This is a time to rethink the way we move through our community.

An estimated 30 percent of Wisconsinites and 30-40 percent of the Dane County population of all ages are non-drivers, including people with disabilities, youth, seniors, and others. The average cost of owning and operating a vehicle has steadily increased and transportation's responsibility on greenhouse gas emissions in Dane County is an environmental concern.

By reducing dependency on driving cars, we can create a more inclusive and environmentally sustainable community.
