Major Milestone Reached in MP2 Project

Today the first marine piles are being driven at the new Berth 53 Jetty as part of the Masterplan Phase 2 Project (MP2). It is currently the largest marine construction project in Ireland, with a considerable amount of both marine and land-based equipment.

This phase of the project will see the creation of a new quay along the main port Channel, replacing the current berthage, making it quicker and easier for ferry operators to pull alongside. Once complete, this will unify our ferry terminals, greatly improving efficiency and customer experience for all.

Piling is the first major physical works for this project, one that has been in planning for over 7 years and is the culmination of considerable hard work by the team at Dublin Port and our partners. There are over 70 staff employed directly by Willis Bros Ltd on the construction works, operating at the highest safety and environmental standards.

The MP2 Project is the second phase of the 2040 Masterplan, Dublin Port's vision for futureproofing the port as an essential piece of national infrastructure for Ireland. The unified ferry terminal is expected to be operational in 2027 following the major transformation of the eastern port.
