Shore Auxiliary Receives $82,000 From Greate Bay Women's Golf Association To Support Women's Cancer Care

The Greate Bay Women's Golf Association (GBWGA) once again stepped up in a big way to help local women who are undergoing cancer treatment at Shore Cancer Center. Through their annual Swing Golf Tournament held September 26 at Greate Bay Country Club, the GBWGA raised $82,000, which they presented to the Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center on November 27. All the funds raised will help offset the medical expenses of local women battling cancer at Shore Cancer Center.

Pat Cowan, Swing Tournament chairperson, said that it is incredibly rewarding to know the funds they raise make such a big impact.

"We've received numerous thank you cards directly from patients who benefited from our efforts since we began supporting Shore Cancer Center. They shared such heartfelt messages about how we helped alleviate their stress and enabled them to focus on treatment, instead of how they were going to pay their medical bills," Cowan said.

Matt Piskun, PharmD, Vice President of Ambulatory and Surgical Services at Shore Medical Center, expressed his gratitude for the support of the GBWGA.

"On behalf of everyone at Shore Cancer Center, I want to express our deepest gratitude to the Greate Bay Women's Golf Association for their incredible support through the Swing Golf Tournament. At Shore Cancer Center, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care, and it means so much to our team to know that our patients are being cared for not only within our walls but also by a community that stands beside them."

The entire GBWGA plays a vital role in the success of the Swing Tournament, contributing through cash donations, volunteerism, golfing, and auction support. While a dedicated few serve on the tournament committee, it's the collective effort of all members that brings this event to life.

The Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center is part of the Shore Medical Center Planned Giving and Development Department and is made up of dedicated volunteers who work throughout the year on initiatives that include the hospital gift shop, thrift shops, golf tournaments and other community events. Since the Auxiliary's inception in 1940, the Auxiliary has donated more than $15 million to Shore Medical Center.
