City makes plans to replace bridge on Sparkman Drive

The City approved an engineering design services contract to plan for the replacement of the bridge on Sparkman Drive near Memorial Parkway.

The scope of the $373,713 contract with AECOM Technical Services Inc. consists of design, permitting, survey and geotechnical investigations for a new bridge 100 feet in length and 90 feet wide.

The bridge was constructed in 1968 and modified in 2004 by the Alabama Department of Transportation.
