Head of Standing Delegation to PACE Biljana Pantic Pilja and Azerbaijani Ambassador Discuss Continuation of Support and Cooperation in International Organisations

The topic of the meeting was the Serbian parliamentary delegation's support to Azerbaijan, at the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where an urgent debate will be held on the topic: "The deteriorating situation of human rights, rule of law and democracy in Azerbaijan".

The Head of the PACE delegation Biljana Pantic Pilja stressed that the friendly relations between the two countries imply mutual support, which Azerbaijan can count on at the upcoming PACE session, and which, for its part, it confirmed by principled respect for international law and Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. She stressed that respect for international law is imperative, which, above all, it should be for an institution like PACE.

The Azerbaijani Ambassador thanked Serbia for its support and emphasised that Serbia can always count on his country's full support, especially regarding the integrity of its territory.

The officials agreed that the continuation of cooperation and support of delegations within international organisations is of mutual importance. They also emphasised that special attention should be paid to the additional intensification of interparliamentary cooperation, as one of the most significant ways of preserving and building the friendly and strategic relations between the two countries.
