The UN General Assembly's Sixth Committee (legal affairs) holds a biannual debate on the status of the Geneva Conventions' Additional Protocols relating to the protection of civilians in armed conflict.

At this year's debate, Ms Daphné Le Son, Deputy Permanent Representative of Monaco to the UN, reaffirmed Monaco's commitment to international humanitarian law and urged other member states to honour their obligations.

Ms Le Son also took this opportunity to address the disproportionate impact of violence against women, children and people living with disabilities and condemned the rise in attacks on journalists and aid workers before closing her address with a summary of the actions taken by the Prince's Government to protect civilians; both through disseminating information via the Sanremo Institute of International Humanitarian Law, and in the field through partnerships with Handicap International, the Red Cross, UNICEF, the WFP, the UNHCR and UNRWA.
