(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, the leading voice of Christian higher education, today announced that Dr. Jill Hartness has been named senior vice president and chief of staff.
Hartness joined the CCCU in 2022 as chief advancement officer and, in 2023, was promoted to vice president of advancement.
CCCU President David Hoag stated, "Jill possesses extensive experience in educational leadership and, during her time at the CCCU, has worked successfully in membership and advancement. In this new role, her unique combination of skills and experience will help the CCCU to successfully move forward as we achieve our goals."
Hartness holds an Ed.D. from Abilene Christian University, a master's in education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a bachelor's degree in mathematics education from Lipscomb University.
"I am honored to step into the role of senior vice president and chief of staff at the CCCU," Hartness stated. "The mission of advancing Christian education is one I hold deeply, and I am excited to support President Hoag, our team and our member institutions as we pursue this vital work."
Prior to joining the CCCU, Hartness served as the head of school at Boyd-Buchanan School, a K-12 college preparatory school in Chattanooga, TN.
Hartness will succeed Chief of Staff and Chief Operations Officer John Addleman, Ph.D., who will transition to the role of director of faith integration and program evaluation. The faith initiative offers CCCU support to member institutions looking for ways to expand the integration of faith and learning on their campuses, including through mentorship, webinars and other supportive measures.
