CityLife, Dubuque's Exploration of Local Government, Welcoming Marshallese-Speaking Applicants

Note: Marshallese translation of this information appears below.

The City of Dubuque is welcoming applications from residents whose primary language is Marshallese for the next session of CityLife, Dubuque's fun, free, and interactive experience of local government. The program had previously also been offered in English and Spanish.

CityLife participants have the opportunity to learn more about City operations and services that make Dubuque a great place to live, work, and play. Through presentations, behind-the-scenes tours, and conversations with neighbors, residents see taxpayer investments at work and are able to share their thoughts. Offering this session in Marshallese is an effort by the Office of Shared Prosperity and Neighborhood Support to better engage Dubuque's Marshallese residents. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 6 at www.cityofdubuque.org/CityLife.

The CityLife program consists of five in-person sessions generally held on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. The first session will be on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and the final session will be held on Friday, Oct. 11. Dinner is provided and some accommodations can be made. The program will be offered again in English in the spring.

"We are very excited to be able to tailor this edition of the CityLife program specifically for Dubuque's Marshallese community," says Community Engagement Coordinator Temwa Phiri, who leads the City Life sessions. "The goal of the program is for anyone and everyone who lives in Dubuque to gain new knowledge that will make them a more engaged resident, regardless of their background or language."
