University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh to celebrate 60th Midyear Commencement

Around 700 students are expected to walk across the stage Dec. 14 as the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh holds its 60th Midyear Commencement.

Families and friends are invited to the 10 a.m. ceremony at Kolf Sports Center, 785 High Ave., Oshkosh, where associate, bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees will be awarded at the 60th midyear ceremony. Along with those finishing their academic programs this fall, midyear commencement also recognizes students who graduated at the end of the summer semester. The Midyear Commencement Program may be seen here.

Graduating class speaker:

Daisy Wilson of Weyauwega, graduates with a bachelor's degree in both biology and psychology, minoring in chemistry.

Daisy Wilson

During her time at UWO, she made significant contributions to both her academic field and her peers. As a research assistant, she helped develop safer, greener organic chemistry lab procedures, eliminating toxic reagents from key experiments-a change that ensures future students can safely conduct important chemistry reactions. Her work was presented at the WisSpark Symposium and the Celebration of Scholarship event.

She served as an instruction leader and biochemistry tutor, participated in the McNair Scholars program, where she conducted research on plastic biodegradation and presented her findings.

After graduation, Wilson plans to attend medical school and pursue a career in trauma surgery. Her dedication to research, teaching and helping others has shaped her path, and she looks forward to continuing to make an impact in the medical field.

William Morrison

Commencement address:

William Morrison, assistant professor in the finance department within the College of Business, teaches classes for both undergraduate and graduate level programs and is the director of the Student Managed Endowment Fund, known as SMEF. The SMEF program allows students to select investments and oversee a portfolio of more than $1 million, which helps support UWO student scholarships and student development.

Morrison serves as faculty adviser for the Finance Club and the CFA Institute Research Challenge competition.

Livestream and program

The Midyear Commencement ceremony will be livestreamed for those who are not able to attend. You can download the commence program here.

The graduates will join more than 110,000 in the UWO alumni family.
