Volusia County will host four public meetings to gather resident input on updates to the Emergency Management Division's Local Mitigation Strategy Plan, which outlines strategies to reduce disaster risks, and the Floodplain Management Plan, which focuses on minimizing flood risks and enhancing flood resilience.

Each meeting will cover a different topic and purpose, except the two Engagement sessions. During the sessions, staff will review the existing plans, outline the update process, answer questions, and gather public feedback to potentially update the plans. The meetings will take place on the following dates:

  • Kick-off:Friday, Sept. 20, at 9 a.m. - Emergency Operations Center, 3825 Tiger Bay Road
  • Engagement:Monday, Oct. 7, at 5:30 p.m. - Daytona Beach Regional Library, 105 Jackie Robinson Parkway
  • Engagement:Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 5:30 p.m. - DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.
  • Conclusion:Friday, Dec. 13, at 9 a.m. - Emergency Operations Center, 3825 Tiger Bay Road

Presentation materials will be available after each meeting at www.volusia.org/emergencyfor residents unable to attend in person. Additionally, online surveys regarding the plans will be posted after the Engagement sessions, allowing everyone to review and submit feedback.
