Transition to independent living for persons with disabilities

To ensure the full social and economic inclusion of persons with disabilities, ESCWA organized a workshop on "Transition to independent living in society for persons with disabilities" at the UN House in Beirut.

The workshop, held on 9 and 10 July, explored the principles of independent living according to Article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, discussed the shift from institutional care to independent living, and addressed challenges and best practices.

The event featured various interactive sessions aimed at promoting advocacy and inclusive practices.
