Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on William Avenue West, Sherbrook Street and Langside Street

Winnipeg, MB- Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to three structure fires the night of Saturday, August 31.

William Avenue West fire

At 8:37 p.m., WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a two-storey residential dwelling in the 1900 block of William Avenue West.

When crews arrived at the scene, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. They launched a fire attack, while working to protect the neighbouring properties. The fire was brought under control at 9:34 p.m.

Residents self-evacuated before crews arrived on scene. One person was assessed by paramedics on scene, but wasn't transported to hospital. There were no other injuries reported.

Damage estimates are not available at this time. The fire remains under investigation.

Sherbrook Street fire

At 9:37 p.m., WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a vacant two-and-a-half storey house in the 600 block of Sherbrook Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke coming from the building. They launched an offensive fire attack, fighting the fire from inside. It was declared under control at 10:14 p.m.

Firefighters completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Langside Street fire

At 9:42 p.m., WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a two-storey house in the 400 block of Langside Street.

Crews saw smoke coming from the structure when they arrived on scene. They launched an offensive a fire attack, using hose lines to apply water to the fire. The fire was declared under control at 10:28 p.m.

Residents evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Damage estimates are not available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
