More than $2.5 million in grants awarded to South Carolina nonprofits in 2014
The Sonoco Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Hartsville, S.C.-based Sonoco Products Company, is now accepting grant proposals for 2015. The Sonoco Foundation's grant program focuses on education, health and wellness, arts and culture, and the environment. Grant proposals will only be accepted from nonprofit organizations with 501(c)3 status that are based in the communities where Sonoco operates. All proposals must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2015, to be considered.The Sonoco Foundation understands that strong communities and thriving businesses are linked. To this end, Sonoco gives back to the communities where they operate to address critical social and economic issues. In 2014, Sonoco Foundation awarded more than $2.5 million in grants to nonprofits.

"We are proud to award these funds to organizations that strengthen education, improve health and wellness and enhance our shared communities."
In March 2014, Sonoco established their corporate donor advised fund at Central Carolina Community Foundation, the Midland's expert on philanthropy, to strengthen their philanthropic efforts. The Community Foundation acts as a centralized point of contact for all grant requests to the corporation and manages its grants administration, evaluation, outreach and distribution.
