Friends University president announces new center for Friends University at breakfast event

Wichita, KS- Friends University announced a new center on campus at the annual Breakfast with the President on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Dr. Amy Bragg Carey, the university's president, discussed the state of the university, highlighting the positive momentum on campus through record breaking enrollment, new facilities such as the Riney Fine Arts building, and the $1 million gift that will fund the Friends Center for Enterprise and Community Engagement.

The new center will be housed in the Business Division on the Wichita campus. The purpose of this center is to combine community engagement and service with experiential learning activities that will launch students on a pathway to their profession, all within the context of the Christian mission.

The center will provide students with education and agency-type experiential learning by offering resources, project assistance and business support to the non-profit and business community. Students will opt in to work with the center, gaining important knowledge and real-world experience.

"We are very grateful for this amazing gift to start a dynamic center for our students and our community. Propelled by one of our Friends University core values of service, I look forward to seeing how the students will engage with the business and non-profit community in what we expect will transformational learning experiences," said Dr. Carey.

As of the event, Friends University is currently searching for candidates for the center's director.
