Kelly, Sinema Announce Up To $87.5 Million To Strengthen Arizona Tribal Communities’ Access to Electricity, Clean Energy

Historic climate and energy law shaped by Kelly and Sinema provides millions of dollars to deploy residential solar energy projects to Arizona tribal communities

Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema announced up to $87,570,000 for residential solar projects in Arizona tribal communities-strengthening access to electricity, lowering costs, and creating jobs.

The Hopi Tribe will receive more than $25 million to deploy residential solar and storage systems on the reservation-where 35% of households lack access to electricity, and households that do have electricity suffer from frequent and extended outages. The Grid Alternatives' Western Indigenous Network Solar For All (WIN-SFA) program will receive more than $62.4 million to deploy residential solar projects to tribal communities nationwide, with a focus on Arizona and other Western states.

"The impact of our Inflation Reduction Act is reaching every corner of the country, and now tribal communities in Arizona will see expanded access to solar energy and reduced energy costs thanks to this major investment," said Kelly.

"Using innovative technology, we're investing in measures to lower energy costs, increase access to electricity, and protect Arizona Tribes from dangerous power outages," said Sinema.

The investment from the Kelly and Sinema shaped Inflation Reduction law funds residential solar and energy storage projects that will create good-paying jobs, increase Arizona Tribes' access to electricity and clean energy, lower electricity costs, reduce emissions, and protect Arizonans from frequent power outages.
