Arrest Made in Shots Fired Call From July 07, 2024

On July 18, 2024, Crimes Against Persons Detectives were able to identify 31-year-old, Michael Santistevan as the suspect in the previously reported shooting from Sunday, July 7, 2024, which officers responded to at 1700 Constitution Road. Pueblo Police Department then drafted a warrant for his arrest. Mr. Santistevan was located walking in the area of Troy Avenue and Oakshire Lane. After a short foot pursuit Mr. Santistevan was taken into custody. Mr. Santistevan is currently being held at the Pueblo County Detention Facility without bond and has been charged with three (3) counts of Attempted 2nd degree Murder.

During the original call on July 7, 2024, officers on scene learned a juvenile was shot once in the back and was transported to a local area hospital for their injuries. The child sustained minor injuries and was later released from the hospital.

The incident occurred when an adult male and his two children were in the area looking for the children's stolen bicycle. They observed what they believed to be their bicycle in front of a residence in the 1700 block of Constitution Road. The father confronted several people in front of the residence about the bicycle. During the confrontation, a male inside the residence shot at the father's vehicle as they drove away. The suspect was not located at the time of the incident.

Shots Fired Call Results in SWAT Call-Out

On July 7, 2024, at approximately 10:15 A.M., Pueblo Police were sent to the 1700 block of Constitution Road on the report of shots fired. Additional information was received that juvenile was injured during a disturbance.

Officers learned an adult male and his juvenile child were searching for the child's stolen bicycle when they observed it in front of a residence. The adult male confronted the residents about the bicycle and a disturbance occurred.

The juvenile was struck by a bullet. Thankfully, the bullet decelerated enough to cause only minor injuries. In an abundance of caution, the child was transported to a local area hospital for treatment and will be released.

The Pueblo Police Department SWAT Team was activated to assist in handling a barricaded subject at the residence.
