SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. - The Department of Conservation and Recreation will conduct a public comment meeting at the Louisa County Public Library on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. The library is located at 881 David Highway, Mineral, Va. 23117.

This will be an in-person meeting only so for those that are not able to attend in person or have comments afterwards, they can be emailed to [email protected]. There is a 30-day comment period after the meeting and so the deadline to have comments emailed is Nov. 17.

This meeting will give the public an opportunity to learn more about the Lake Anna State Park Master Plan update which is currently underway. Results of public opinion surveys, the Visitor Experience findings, mission statement and themes will be discussed along with the proposed Master Plan Map depicting locations of proposed improvements within the park and the Phased Development Plan showing proposed improvements by phase.

The Code of Virginia requires that master plans be written for all Virginia State Parks. The plans cover the size, types and locations of facilities as well as the site's special features and resources. Plans also cover infrastructure, such as roads and utilities, and outline phased development and costs for operations, maintenance and staffing.

Lake Anna State Park has a beach on one of Virginia's most popular lakes, a fishing pond, a bathhouse-concessions complex and a boat launch. Overnight stays are made possible by camping, six camping cabins, four yurts, two six-bedroom lodges and 10 two-bedroom cabins. With more than 15 miles of trails, the park offers various hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities. Visitor center exhibits trace the history of the area's gold mining and highlight the park's natural features.
