Safety tips

  • Always have a water source handy to extinguish any stray fireworks.
  • Never point fireworks at another person or pet. Over 9,000 injuries or burns related to fireworks mishaps are reported every year, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
  • Never reignite a firework. If a firework fails to light, consider it a dud. Never relight or pick up fireworks that fail. Douse the firework with water before disposal.
  • Children should never ignite or play with fireworks.
  • Stay sober when using fireworks.

Celebrate responsibly

The City of Huntsville encourages residents to celebrate the Fourth of July responsibly and to be good neighbors by avoiding shooting fireworks after 10 p.m. Adhering to the fireworks ordinance and practicing safety can ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday.
