Implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum in Poland

Implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum in Poland

15.11.2024

Question for written answer E-002557/2024
to the Commission
Rule 144
Marcin Sypniewski (ESN)

Following the adoption of the provisions of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson announced that, given that Poland had taken in millions of Ukrainians in connection with the war in Ukraine, it would be partially or totally exempted from participating in the Pact. In this connection:

  • 1.Has Poland formally presented the situation with regard to immigration pressure on its territory?
  • 2.Does the Commission see Poland taking in millions of Ukrainians as grounds for exempting it from all or some of the provisions of the Pact?
  • 3.Are arrangements being drawn up to exempt Poland from the Pact, and to what extent?
