Boyle Bill To Name Philadelphia Post Office for Fallen Temple University Officer Passes Senate

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Brendan Boyle announced that his bill to rename the post office at 9925 Bustleton Avenue in Philadelphia as the "Sergeant Christopher David Fitzgerald Post Office Building" has passed the Senate. The bill now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.

"Sergeant Fitzgerald was an integral part of the Temple University community and a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about the safety and well-being of our city," said Congressman Boyle. "His unwavering commitment and courage in the face of danger serve as a powerful example of service and sacrifice. Naming this post office in his honor is a meaningful way to ensure his legacy lives on and to express our profound gratitude for his service and sacrifice."

Sergeant Fitzgerald, a Temple University Police Officer who resided in Congressman Boyle's district, was tragically killed in the line of duty on February 18, 2023. He was the first Temple University officer to be killed in the line of duty, having joined the university's police force in October 2021. Sergeant Fitzgerald is survived by his wife, Marissa, and their four children-two girls and two boys.
