Press briefing on next week’s plenary session

Spokespersons for Parliament and for the political groups will hold a briefing on the 7 - 10 October plenary session on Friday at 11.00, in Parliament's Anna Politkovskaya press room.

Key topics next week include:

  • Escalating violence in the Middle East and the situation in Lebanon: debate with Josep Borrell;

  • Debate on the anniversary of the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel;

  • Debates on the implications of the reintroduction of border controls for the travel-free Schengen area and on the management of Europe's external borders;

  • Debate with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on the programme for Hungary's six-month Council Presidency;

  • Parliament's priorities for the 17 - 18 October European Council;

  • Debates on the crisis in the EU's automotive industry and on how to ensure affordable and decent housing;

  • Georgia: debate and vote on the state of Georgia's declining democracy, with EU foreign policy chief Borrell;

  • Moldova: debate and vote on Russian attempts to interfere in Moldova's presidential elections, with EU foreign policy chief Borrell.
