During the visit of the EU Delegation to Ukraine to the Lviv City Council, an agreement was signed for the construction of seven new houses

Seven more houses to be built in Lviv ,the agreement was signed between the construction customer, LKP "Lviv Intercity Bureau of Technical Inventory," and the contracting organisation.

The European Commission has allocated a total of EUR 19.5 million in grant funds for the construction of eight social houses, which will accommodate up to 700 people. City representatives report that the construction of the first house is already in its final stages and is scheduled to be completed by September this year. This fall, people will be able to move into the first of the eight campuses, while the remaining houses are planned to be built in 2025.

"Today, Lviv is a humanitarian hub. Therefore, the project to build housing for wounded Ukrainians is very important to us, and we are grateful to our European partners for this much-needed support," said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

Internally displaced persons undergoing rehabilitation will temporarily live in these houses while receiving treatment at the "Unbroken" rehabilitation center in Lviv. The project includes one-, two-, and three-room campuses, allowing people to live with their families.

"The European Union is pleased to finance this important construction project, which will yield positive results not only for the city but for all of Ukraine. We continue to support Ukraine in any way we can. It is very important for us to take another step so that people affected by the war and in need of shelter can find it together with their loved ones in a comfortable residence," emphasized Jocelyn Cornet, Head of the Reconstruction, Energy, Infrastructure, and Environment Section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

The social housing construction project is being implemented by the Lviv City Council with funding from the European Unionand support from Nefco. The project contributes to the implementation of UNBROKEN programme and is a part of the Nefco Green Recovery for Ukraine programme,which provides financing to municipalities to carry out projects in an efficient way. The programme supports the country in its transition to a green economy, strengthen its alignment with EU regulations, and benefits Ukrainian communities.
